In this call, Dr. Nick Housley discussed two important concepts to understand for stroke recovery. Neurogenesis is the process by which new neurons are formed in the brain. Neurogenesis is crucial when an embryo is developing, but also continues in certain brain regions after birth and throughout our lifespan. Functional Organization is related to changes that occur after a brain injury to enable other areas of the brain to take over all or part of the functions performed by the injured area.
