Most car salesman and sales people in general, spend most of their day getting by, walking on the car lot, waiting for the next customer to show up, hoping and praying that a lay down will come inside and buy from them with no objections in the lot or during the close.

But the truth is... That is not the reality, 100% of customers are divided into 3 different areas/categories/types. 20% being lay downs, 60% being in-between (i'll explain), and 20% being hard sales.

And not just in car sales but in every sales industry there are 3 types of customers starting with the:

20% these are the lay-downs the customers that everyone and there dog can close, customer that had their mind setup on buying before they even walked in, called, clicked on the website. Customers that you have to be so bad at your job to mess it up. And btw you can only mess it up because they came in to buy...

60% this is where the magic happens... This is where you separate the experienced salespeople from the mediocre and average sales people and where you have ability to add an extra 100k to the bottom line. And the better you are, the bigger the gap you create allowing you to close at even an 80%

20% these are the customers that were not planning on buying under any circumstances you could've been Jesus Christ himself but they where not coming in to buy. The types of customers that watch youtube videos on how to get passed salesman. Or on the completely other spectrum just the customers who are in a very bad situation, for example in the automotive industry they are referred to as subprime credit. Now it's rare but when someone has reached a level of mastery in influence, persuasion, and communication they can actually tap into this and expand their closing ratio, virtually closing anyone who is closable.

The question you have to ask yourself, is do you want to put in the hours upon hours of work and relentless effort to increase your skillset and in-turn increase your paychecks.

Or like most sales man do you want to spend most of your day getting by, walking on the car lot waiting for the next customer to show up, hoping and praying that a lay down will come inside and buy from them with no objections in the lot or during the close.
