D&RG #425 runs light with caboose #0306 back to Chama and turns on the wye after helping D&RG #168 up the 4% Cumbres Pass grade.
Visiting D&RGW #315 is a coal burning, class "C-18" 2-8-0 "Consolidation" built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1895. It has been lettered D&RG #425, painted and modified to look like it did shortly after it was purchased from the Florence & Cripple Creek.
Earlier D&RG #168 & #425 pulled a string of vintage cars on a historic “test run” in preparation for the Victorian Iron Horse Roundup in August. The gathering of 19th-century locomotives is a celebration for the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad’s 50th anniversary.
