With Lionel Messi arriving at Paris Saint-Germain this summer, joining Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the frontline, as well as new arrivals Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Gianluigi Donnarumma, the French giants now boast arguably the strongest squad in the game, and are favourites for the Champions League before a ball is kicked in the competition.
But while no-one would question their sporting credentials, many have wondered how exactly they can afford to do all this. UEFA’s FFP regulations are meant to prevent teams outspending their means, and even Manchester City had to give up on signing Messi after the acquisition of Jack Grealish, so how can PSG get away with it?
