▪︎May Allah be pleased with the righteous companions of our Prophet.
It is unfortunate to see the extremism in rejecting or accepting the Sahaba. Some Shia, have a negative stance against the companions, while some Sunnis consider all of them to be just.
For shia, one of the methods of proving the true claim of Prophethood, is through looking at the students/companions of this prophet. If they all left Islam after the Prophets death, and only three or seven (according to different weak narrations) stayed Muslims, what does that say about your Prophet?
For Sunnis, if you believe everyone who heard/saw the Prophet (sawa) is a companion, then you must reject the concept of all companions being just. There was faithful and hypocritic people around the Prophet (sawa).
It is more logical to study the lives of each individual of the companions, and see if they were righteous believers or not. To generalise in your support or disagreements is wrong and unwise.
It is funny how some Shia are so negative against the companions of the Prophet (sawa), yet they tend to justify or ignore the mistakes of some of the companions of our Imams (as). They always have a justification ready in facing some of the historical stories that are mentioned in the books.
