In this video, Pioneer Field Agronomist Matt Montgomery discusses stalk integrity in an area that experienced a lot of heavy rainfall and other stressors throughout the growing season. While drought, insect and hail commonly cause stress to corn, even good growing conditions like receiving rain can lead to stalk problems – especially when followed by a less favorable environment. Growers should monitor their fields as harvest approaches, to identify stalk quality problems and prepare to harvest before field losses occur.
