LIRR Boxcar Move to the OBRM Crawling Through East Williston

LIRR Boxcar Move to the OBRM Crawling Through East Williston

On Friday, October 8th, the LIRR would run a special train to move a former NH boxcar to the Oyster Bay Railroad Musuem, alongside the boxcar is a flatcar with railroad ties and new wheels for LIRR 35.
The boxcar is a 40ft PS-1 boxcar built in 1944, formerly from the New York New Haven & Hartford Railroad (NH). For a brief period of time this boxcar was in active work train use on the LIRR, before being stored and eventually being moved to Holban Yard in Queens, before getting moved up to Oyster Bay for the Musuem.
Because of the condition of the boxcar, it wasn’t easy getting it up to the bay, barely reaching 15mph most of the way and finally getting into Oyster Bay around 3:30AM.
Taken about 12:43AM on 10/9/21

MP15AC’s 153 (P5) & 164 for power.
