Buzz Lightyear returns in LIGHTYEAR, the new Pixar movie that continues the Toy Story universe. Lightyear is a movie about the real Buzz Lightyear, a human who the toy was based on. While this origin story looks great, Pixar is taking a big risk by making it at all.
Just about every Pixar movie has some kind of gimmick. From Toy Story to Cars to The Incredibles to Inside Out and beyond, these stories tend to focus on fantasy over reality. Buzz Lightyear's origin story in LIGHTYEAR feels different from everything else we've seen. The teaser trailer from Pixar is enough to get everyone hyped, but will it be as good as Toy Story?
