When we think in oversimplistic terms, we lose nuance and can no longer effectively navigate in the world. Narcissists use either / or, black or white, binary thinking to prevent people from navigating effectively.
This even appears when they try to convince us that "being a bit more selfish" will make us "entirely selfish". If we are afraid of boundaries, we are vulnerable to being manipulated.
Beware of people who push unnuanced world views: they're seeking to gain something, and that thing probably is not your happiness.
Narcissists want to make us vulnerable to their manipulation as this makes others easier to gaslight, to confuse and will isolate us from reasonable people. It's easy to overlook the importance of healthy boundaries and healthy ideas, but once we allow toxic thinking in our lives, we're more likely to attract toxic people and narcissists, and even to think and act like them.
