South Korea urea shortage threatens transport, businesses

South Korea is facing a dire shortage of urea that is threatening to halt transport, businesses and industries.

The government is sending a military oil tanker to airlift urea solution from Australia to meet its demands.

Diesel vehicles there – especially transport trucks - cannot run without the chemical compound.

But its biggest supplier, China, is curbing exports and that could have a huge effect on South Korea's economy.
