SA Unrest I Communities rise up against looting: Dewa Mavhinga

Acting Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says a total of 5 thousand members of the South African National Defence Force and other law enforcement agencies will be deployed in different provinces across the country. This, as acts of vandalism and looting of shops, continue in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Scenes of violence have engulfed the two provinces. The protests started when people expressed anger following the arrest of former President Jacob Zuma. Today, several ministers within the Economic and Security Clusters visited different areas of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal., something that many say comes a bit too late.
For more on the protests in some parts of South Africa we are now joined via Skype from Oxford in the United Kingdom, by Dewa Mavhinga, Southern Africa Director at Human Rights Watch.
