2022 Trek Madone SL 7 eTap review: Aero and comfy with superb handling, but so, so heavy

Trek’s second-tier Madone SL family sacrifices very little in the way of aerodynamics relative to the Madone SLR, so it’s still as tangibly fast as that flagship. It’s also far more comfortable than you’d expect for a bike in this category, offers brilliant handling, there’s a threaded bottom bracket down below, and although the cables are mostly hidden, the bar and stem are totally normal to eliminate most of the headache. But unfortunately — and there’s just no gentle way to put it — the bike is also kind of a boat anchor, particularly considering it’s hardly cheap, too.
